What is the Pharma Anti-Counterfeiting, Serialisation & Supply Chain Security?

Counterfeits pose a huge threat to both the pharmaceutical and medical industries. Not only do they cost the industry billions each year with the counterfeit drugs trade currently valued at ~ $300bn (Journal of Global Health, 2022) but they are also a huge threat to consumers, with the WHO suggesting that counterfeit pharmaceuticals are responsible for an annual death toll of over 1m people (World Health Organization, 2019).

The Pharma Anti-Counterfeiting, Serialisation & Supply Chain Security aims to address, and inevitably work to overcome, this threat. Across the two-day event there will be a focus on the business and technical problems that pharmaceutical companies face when fighting medical counterfeits, current pharma anti-counterfeiting measures and their pain points, and how advancements in serialisation and track and trace analytical techniques can help to combat fakes in the pharmaceutical industry and its supply chains.
