We have been at the 7th Brand Protection Congress!

Between the 19th and the 20th of October 2022, our team of brand protection experts were in Nice, France.

However, we weren’t there just to enjoy the sun and scenery. Members of our team were visiting the 7th Brand Protection Congress, held by the World Bi Group.

7th Brand Protection Congress

What is the Brand Protection Congress?

The event, held every year, is a high-class conference event which brings together some of the biggest names in the industry to discuss the challenges we face within anti-counterfeiting, brand protection and product security. Attendees included solutions providers (like ourselves) and brand owners and enabled us to talk through the obstacles they face daily when looking to protect their brand and their product.

Counterfeit products are becoming a rising issue within many markets and industries. It is estimated by the Chamber of Commerce that the global value of counterfeit goods could reach $2.3 trillion. In 2019, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) found that fake and counterfeit products made up for 3.3% of world trade and this number is steadily rising. Many brands have seen a growing rise in the sophistication of fake consumer led electronic products, leading to negative brand reputational damage.

It is figures like these which show the importance of events such as the Brand Protection Congress, allowing brands to find solutions to brand protection and anti-counterfeiting.

Key takeaways from the 7th Brand Protection Congress

At the 7th Brand Protection Congress, we spoke to many brands and other solution providers and have come away with some key thoughts.

Pharmaceutical Anti-Counterfeiting

Counterfeit products can affect almost any market, but one which has potentially deadly consequences is the Pharmaceutical market. A challenge for this industry when employing anti-counterfeit solutions to their packaging is packaging real estate. Our Q-ID solution can help combat these restrictions due to the flexibility of the quantum fingerprint.

Speedy Authentication

When networking with brand owners and solution owners alike, one common theme popped up: the need for consumer-led authentication in seconds. The demand for an unbreakable solution which authenticates in seconds spanned across all industries, including: manufacturing, consumer goods, pharmaceutical and luxury goods.

Some other solutions took over 15 seconds to authenticate and involved a complex set of readings, too complex for an end user. Our Q-ID tags authenticate in seconds and can be done so with a standard smartphone camera. This will allow end-users to become the custodian of brand protection.

Track and Trace Capabilities

The ability to track and trace products is an essential requirement in modern day anti-counterfeiting. Large, global bodies such as Interpol have expressed a preference for solutions which involve track and trace capabilities as they allow for real-time take-down of counterfeit goods.

Global Consumer-Led Data

Many brands also expressed a desire for authentication products, such as the Q-ID Optical, to also provide further consumer-led data on a global scale. This will allow for efficient supply chain logistics alongside personalised brand-to-consumer messaging across the consumer journey, strengthening relationships between the brand and the end-user.

Want to find out more?

We understand the issues faced across the globe when it comes to counterfeit goods, brand security and product authentication. This is why we developed the world’s first unbreakable anti-counterfeiting solution. The pure randomness of quantum fingerprints used within the Q-ID tags means the data is impossible to copy, yet can be authenticated with a standard mobile phone camera.
